FAQ

Payment and Orders

Do I have to have a PayPal account to buy?

No, you can pay with your credit card without a PayPal account.

Do you ship to foreign countries other than Canada?

Yes, we ship all over the world.  First, be sure that your country can accept the items that you order (several countries have restrictions on sterling silver entering their borders, for example).  Then contact us at orders@rebecamojica.com with the items you'd like to order and your country.  We can calculate the shipping and send you an invoice via PayPal which can be paid using any major credit card, or your PayPal balance.  Depending on the size of your order, you may be responsible for customs and duties taxes, which can be very costly. You are fully responsible for contacting your local post office prior to placing an order to determine what charges you might incur. Under no circumstances are we responsible for paying these charges.

The Jewelry

Is it really all made one ring at a time?

Yes, it is!  The story begins long before that, however.  In order to create the base "jump ring" shape that Rebeca works with, first a spool of wire must be coiled around a mandrel (of whatever size is needed), then cut and  finally cleaned.  Rebeca's supplies company, Blue Buddha Boutique, works with jump ring makers across the country in order to produce tens of millions of jump rings annually.  Blue Buddha attempts to source as much wire from the US as possible.  The niobium rings are given their color in-house, wheras the aluminum rings are shipped to a state-side anodizing factory to be dyed.  Once the rings are fully cleaned and process, Rebeca is ready to work her magic.  Using one set of pliers in each hand, she links the jump rings one by one. To some people, this sounds about as exciting as receiving a lobotomy while getting a cavity filled.  However, Rebeca loves it and tries to spend some time every day making maille.

How long does it take for Rebeca to make a jewelry item I order?

This depends on the item; you should allow up to two weeks for your item to be shipped.  Note that the simplest earrings can usually be completed and sent within 48 hours of receiving your order so long as Rebeca is not at a show or teaching full-day classes.  Custom, intricate necklaces and bracelets requiring several thousand rings or more can take several weeks to months depending upon the design and the current material stock in inventory.  Please email Rebeca at artist@rebecamojica.com for specific inquiries.

Why can't I order the exact size and color I need from a drop-down menu online?

Rebeca is very picky about her jewelry, and she caters to those who are equally picky!  Therefore, we prefer to contact each customer directly by email or phone in order to ensure we are crafting your jewelry exactly to your specifications, down to the perfect clasp and the perfect fit.

How do I care for my jewelry?

You'll receive a care sheet with your purchase. Most jewelry can be cleaned with dishwashing soap and water.  For more details, please refer to the jewelry care and cleaning FAQ on BlueBuddhaBoutique.com (Rebeca Mojica's parent company, specializing in providing supplies and instructions to crafters who make maille themselves).
